After over fifty years of use, EBDCs are still the most widely used fungicides in the world due to the advantages they provide:
  • broad-spectrum disease control
  • lack of resistance due to multi-site activity in the fungal organism
  • compatibility
    • in integrated pest management (IPM) programs
    • in combination or rotation with newer, single-site fungicides to prevent resistance with the new products
    • in tank mixes with other crop protection products
  • cost effectiveness.

Farmers and consumers could not have the quality and quantity of agricultural production that they enjoy without fungicides. Crop yields, crop market acceptance, and farm income would all suffer.

EBDC fungicides are vital tools in successful crop production. Alternative products can be used, but none can replace EBDCs, and all have problems associated with them. Most are more expensive; some are less safe to crops; and others are likely to encounter disease resistance.

The chemical industry has invested billions of dollars in the search for superior products. After 50 years, EBDC fungicides are still the best, safest, and most cost effective weapons against plant disease throughout the world.
